The Muslim World League Welcomes the Statement Issued by the Joint Madrid Meeting on the Implementation of the Two-State Solution

Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed the statement issued by the Joint Ministerial Contact Group of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which convened in Madrid, Spain. This group comprised representatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Turkey. Additional participants included representatives from the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as foreign ministers and representatives from Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain.

In a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, expressed appreciation for the concerted efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and securing their legitimate rights to an independent state. He highlighted key aspects of the statement, emphasizing the importance of enabling the Palestinian government to fully administer its responsibilities across Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. He also called upon the international community to adopt proactive measures towards implementing the two-state solution, which encompasses the comprehensive recognition of the State of Palestine and its acceptance as a full member of the United Nations.

His Excellency underscored the imperative for the immediate, unconditional, and unrestricted delivery of large-scale humanitarian aid through the opening of all crossings, and advocated for bolstering the operations of UNRWA and other UN agencies. Dr. Al-Issa implored all parties to adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law, to heed the rulings of the International Court of Justice, and to cease all activities that escalate tensions in the West Bank, including military offensives against Palestinians, as well as unlawful acts that impede peace efforts such as settlement activities, land confiscation, and the displacement of Palestinians.

His Excellency concluded the statement by expressing profound gratitude for the significant efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ‘Chair of the Islamic and Arab Summit,’ which highlighted the pivotal role played by this group through its dynamic and impactful diplomatic engagements. These efforts have notably advanced the global discourse in support of the Palestinian cause. May Allah Almighty abundantly reward the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his esteemed Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. May Allah safeguard them.
