The Muslim World League Appreciates the Tireless Efforts of the ALPS Group
Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) has expressed its appreciation for the tireless efforts of the Aligned for Advancing Lifesaving and Peace in Sudan (ALPS) group in its ongoing endeavors to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, to save lives, and to secure a permanent cessation of hostilities.
In a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, expressed the MWL’s full support and great appreciation for the contributions of the group, which includes: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, the Swiss Confederation, the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the African Union, and the United Nations, which operates under the Jeddah Declaration and the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Eminence emphasized the urgent need for the Sudanese parties to heed the group’s appeal to open additional border crossings, as more than 25 million individuals are facing severe hunger and famine.
The MWL commended the group's commitment to rescuing the Sudanese people and its persistent efforts to provide humanitarian aid and protect civilians. This is exemplified by the recent delivery of aid to approximately 300,000 people in Darfur last week, alongside initiatives for ceasefire and the cessation of the war in Sudan.
