The Muslim World League Welcomes the Outcomes of the Ministerial Committee Meeting Assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on the Developments in Gaza
Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the statement issued following the meeting of the ministerial committee, which was assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in collaboration with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The meeting, held in Cairo, Egypt, focused on the ongoing developments in Gaza.
In a statement released by the MWL General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, expressed the MWL's full support for the outcomes of the meeting. On behalf of the MWL and its global councils, bodies, and assemblies, Dr. Al-Issa affirmed that these outcomes uphold the Palestinian people's right to freedom and dignity, protect the unity and territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian territories, and contribute to fostering lasting peace and stability in the region. Moreover, they act as a deterrent against the Israeli occupation government’s brutal actions and its continued violations of international legitimacy.
Dr. Al-Issa also stressed the urgent need to implement the call for an immediate and complete ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the swift and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring the sustainable and unobstructed restoration of essential services in Gaza.
In his statement, Dr. Al-Issa highlighted the commitment to a political resolution of the conflict based on the two-state solution. This approach, he stated, paves the way for achieving lasting peace and coexistence among all peoples of the region. He also underlined the importance of the upcoming high-level international conference, scheduled for June in New York under the auspices of the United Nations. The conference will be co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic, with the goal of advancing these objectives.
Finally, His Excellency expressed support for the Arab Recovery and Reconstruction Plan, which safeguards the Palestinian people's right to remain on their land. He strongly condemned any attempt at forced displacement or expulsion of Palestinians, warning of the severe consequences such actions would entail.
