The Muslim World League welcomes the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution recognizing that the State of Palestine qualifies for full membership in the UN.

Makkah: 
The Muslim World League welcomes the UN General Assembly's overwhelming adoption of a resolution recognizing that the State of Palestine qualifies for full membership in the UN in accordance with Article 4 of its Charter, which grants it additional rights and benefits.

In a statement, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, emphasized that this resolution clearly reflects the international consensus on the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state within the framework of the two-state solution. His Excellency commended the noble stance of the countries that supported the resolution and urged the leaders of the member states of the Security Council to uphold their historical responsibility by supporting the human and legal rights of the Palestinian people.
