In the setting of a visit that consists of international, religious, and dialogue negotiations, in addition to discussions with a number of American Congress members and the largest intellectual centers, as well as the inauguration of the meeting of the Founding Council of Islamic Leaders in the Americas:
At his residence in New York, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met with His Excellency Mr. Selwin Hart, Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Climate Action and Just Transition.
During the meeting, the importance of the role of religious organizations, institutions, and leaders in promoting climate awareness was discussed. This was done considering the importance of the influence of the spiritual aspect, especially in communities of people of faith. They also highlighted the importance of the MWL’s role in Muslim communities based on the centrality of its headquarters in Makkah, the strength of its influence, and the trust it enjoys from all around the world. Furthermore, the two parties agreed on a memorandum of understanding for joint work.
