His Excellency the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, announced from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the MWL's initiative to establish the Najashi Mosque in Ethiopia, in commemoration of the Najashi, may God have mercy on him.
The Ethiopian government and the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC)appreciated this historic project, which commemorates a cherished memory for the Islamic Ummah in general and the Ethiopian people in particular.
Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Issa visited the Awolia College in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, where he met with members of the college, including scientists, academics, and students and honored Islamic and humanitarian activists from the college’s male and female graduates, stressing the importance of promoting these activities, which are encouraged by the values of our true religion.
His Eminence delivered a speech to the college’s students, which he began by thanking His Eminence Sheikh Haji Ibrahim and all those in charge of the college.
His Excellency described Ethiopia as the country of the two migrations that has a special place in the heart of every Muslim, because it embraced the message of Islam, received the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and its just king, Al-Najashi, (may Allah have mercy on him) protected the delegation of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) against injustice, persecution and oppression. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was quoted as saying "I wish you would go forth into the land of Abyssinia, for there is a king in whose realm no one is harmed, where truth prevails"
After that, Sheikh Al-Issa inaugurated the endowment of the Awolia College in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, in the presence of the EIASC’s President, His Eminence the Mufti, the Mayor of Addis Ababa, and a group of scholars, academics, and students.
For his part, His Eminence the President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, Chairman of the Association of Scholars in Ethiopia, Sheikh Haji Ibrahim, delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness as well as the happiness of the attendees with the visit of the MWL's delegation headed by Sheikh Al-Issa to the college, stressing that the whole land of Ethiopia welcomes the MWL's delegation in their second country, pointing out that they are following the steps of their ancestors of the Prophet’s Companions who lived on the land of Ethiopia.
Sheikh Hajji reminded the attendees of the MWL’s establishment of the Awolia College as the first Islamic social and humanitarian institution in the country, affirming that MWL is still continuing its support of the college and of all Muslims in Ethiopia from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which established the MWL as an umbrella for all peoples of the Islamic world.
In her speech at the inauguration of the college, Her Excellency the Mayor of Addis Ababa expressed her great appreciation for the Association's implementation of the endowment project, stressing that it represents a symbol of solidarity in Ethiopia.
