On a visit announced by the Vatican, Dr. Al-Issa receives the archbishop of Vienna in Riyadh at the MWL's headquarters

The Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), H.E. Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, has received at the MWL’s headquarters His Eminence Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, the archbishop of Vienna and the delegation accompanying him, who arrived in Riyadh upon an invitation from the MWL.
The visit which was announced by the Vatican has acquired great importance since the MWL’s guest His Eminence Cardinal Schönborn is considered one of the most important religious leaders working to boost friendship and cooperation among civilizations according to their common humanitarian commonalities.
H. E. Dr. Issa welcomed His Eminence as the MWL’s guest and then the two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest, particularly the efforts exerted to build up bridges between countries and nations as well as the importance of continuous cooperation and communication among the religious leaders in order to face ideas and calls for civilizations’ clash.
The meeting discussed the Makkah Declaration and its prominent universal impact on the relations among religions and cultures as well as its active role in dealing with the most significant international crises. For his part, the cardinal lauded the achievements of the Makkah Declaration on the international level and particularly its contents that carry positive messages for future generations, especially since it dedicates part of its content to the youth and their empowerment.
The Cardinal showed great interest in the MWL’s work and international initiatives affirming his keenness to cooperate with it in the future.
