Excerpts from the address of His Excellency Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al Othaimeen,The Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation shoulders the responsibility of unifying the efforts of Islamic countries in regards to their political, economic, cultural and social aspects. It works tirelessly through its specialized subsidiaries to strengthen the bonds of solidarity.
Muslim countries have a great responsibility to achieve solidarity among the Ummah, unite its stance and overcome all that weakens its unison and strength, as well as, create a consensus on what promotes its integration.
Muslims were plagued by threats and dangers because of labelling, exclusion, hatred, and being profiled with numerous unjust characteristics. The result of all this is increasing distance and conflicting objectives.
Unity in objectives and the desired end result, as well as, achieving solidarity, are not only beneficial to Muslims alone, but they also protect the relationship between Muslims and others.
We must applaud the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for cleansing Islam of the of extremist ideology adopted by some misguided groups, that tried to hijack Islam and divide it into factions.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken bold steps and adopted crucial policies that are praiseworthy and has attracted the interest and respect of the international community.
