Makkah:
The Muslim World League received with great sadness and sorrow, the news of the passing of His Eminence Sheikh Hassan Sharif, may Allah have mercy on him, the Imam of Muhammad-Newark Mosque in the state of New Jersey, who was killed in a tragic shooting crime outside his mosque after he led the Fajr prayer, today, Thursday.
In a statement of the General Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, offered his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, the members of his masjid, and the Muslim community in the United States of America.
Dr. Al-Issa affirmed that the MWL is closely following the incident, and it is completely confident in the ability of the American authorities to catch the killer and bring him to justice, its keenness to preserve the common threads that unite the American people, and to stop any criminal attempts that affect the harmony of society and its religious and ethnic diversity.
His excellency concluded with a supplication for the deceased. May Allah bestow His mercy on him, and grant his family patience and solace.
