Statement on the Israeli Escalation in Gaza
The Muslim World League expresses deep concern regarding the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip and condemns—in the strongest terms—the ground operations carried out by the occupation forces there.
In a statement by the General-Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, denounced this horrific attack. He emphasized that it disregarded all calls, warnings, and decisions from countries and organizations about its humanitarian and security risks. This escalation not only threatens the lives of Palestinian civilians but also exacerbates their ongoing humanitarian crisis.
His Excellency warned of the dangers of continuing these blatant violations of international laws, norms, and both religious and humanitarian rights against oppressed civilians. He also highlighted the perilous implications this escalation poses for the stability of the region and for regional and international peace. Dr. Al-Issa urges the international community to assume its responsibilities. He calls for an immediate halt to this military operation in line with the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly issued on October 27, 2023, to protect innocent civilians and uphold international humanitarian law.
