Statement from the Muslim World League

Makkah:

The Muslim World League condemns the absurd, disgraceful and provocative act of an extremist, who burned a copy of the Holy Quran in Stockholm, Sweden.

This came in a statement by the General Secretariat of the MWL, in which the Secretary General, Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, warned of the dangers of the practices that provoke hatred and religious emotions, and only serve the agendas of extremism. His Excellency also pointed out that such reckless behavior offends “among other offenses” the concept of freedom and its human values.

Dr. Al-Issa reaffirmed that these barbaric behaviors will only deepen Muslims’ faith, strengthen their values of peace and coexistence, and increase their sincere support towards their national states, as well as their effective contributions to strengthening their national states’ stability and harmony, leading extremist ideologies to inevitably lose their lofty Islamic morals.
