Statement on Stampede Events in Indonesia

The Muslim World League extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Indonesian people, their government represented by His Excellency President Joko Widodo, and the families of the victims and injured in the painful stampede that took place during a sporting event.
In a statement to the General Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency its Secretary General, Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, said: "We followed with great sadness the stampede incident in the dear Republic of Indonesia, and we were saddened by the huge loss of lives caused by this event. On behalf of the General Secretariat of the Muslim World League, its councils, bodies and assemblies, we express full solidarity with Indonesia, the leadership and its people and ask God Almighty to bless the deceased with His mercy, to bestow them in paradise, to grant the injured a full recovery soon, and to protect Indonesia and its dear people from all evil.
