The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomes the outcome of the "Jeddah Summit for Security and Development" hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the participation of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq and the United States of America.

His Excellency the MWL's Secretary General, Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, commended the summit, which focused on partnership to promote peace and security in the region, necessary measures required to maintain the region's security and stability, and joint responses to challenges. This includes keeping the Arab Gulf region free of weapons of mass destruction, adhering to the rules of good neighborliness, mutual respect, and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. His Excellency also stressed that achieving peace and harmony in the region is an essential pillar for consolidating peace and harmony in the whole world.

His Excellency valued the firm and principled commitment of the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq to the Palestinian cause. His Excellency appreciated the summit’s emphasis on the need to reach a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution and the need to stop all unilateral measures that undermine this solution and respect for the historical status quo in Jerusalem.

His Excellency also valued the participating leaders’ support for the Syrian people and the work done to alleviate their suffering. His Excellency greatly appreciated the emphasis placed on providing the necessary support to Syrian refugees, the countries that host refugees, and the provision of access to humanitarian aid in all regions in Syria. His Excellency also welcomed the support offered by the Forum for people facing economic difficulties in Sudan. His excellency stressed the importance of continuing and intensifying efforts to support access to humanitarian aid in Afghanistan while also working to ensure that the people of Afghanistan are afforded their basic rights and freedoms. His Excellency praised the Forum’s commitment to support all efforts to resolve the crises that have created precarious humanitarian situations in Lebanon, Libya and Ukraine.

His Excellency was pleased by the attention given to the pivotal issue of global climate change. His Excellency praised the leaders’ determination to address climate challenges through cooperation, regional integration and joint efforts.

His Excellency stressed that the world has high expectations of the leaders present at the summit to continue to combat terrorism at every level: thwarting regional and international counter-terrorism, countering violent extremism, preventing terror financing, dismantling recruitment operations, and addressing all activities that threaten the peace and security of the region. Indeed, people across the region have high expectations concerning the solutions proposed by the Forum.

His Excellency concluded by congratulating the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz - may Allah Almighty protect them – on the success of the “Jeddah Summit for Security and Development.” His Excellency noted that this success highlights the status of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the regional and international stage and its deserved leading role in achieving peace and prosperity in the region and world.
