H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa , Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met with Mr. Peter De Roover, President of the Belgian House of Representatives, at the Federal Parliament in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
The meeting explored frameworks for understanding and pluralism, and ways to advance interfaith and intercultural dialogue as a key tool for addressing international crises that transcend borders. It emphasized the effectiveness of the “preventive diplomacy” undertaken by the MWL and its leadership, and the active role of religious leaders and community institutions in defusing conflicts before they erupt and building bridges of trust and reconciliation, complementing official political and diplomatic efforts.
During the dialogue, the President expressed his deep appreciation for His Excellency’s efforts and international engagement. He commended the MWL’s role in promoting mutual understanding and respect to achieve peaceful coexistence and build trust between communities, describing this engagement as a living example of international pluralism and “preventive diplomacy.”
The President also praised the practical nature of His Excellency’s efforts and international engagement, emphasizing that his work goes beyond theoretical frameworks to direct engagement with diverse leaders and communities around the world, making the MWL’s role a practical model for peacebuilding and promoting the values of tolerance.
