This evening:
H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met in Brussels, the Belgian capital, with leaders of Belgium’s Muslim community and a number of its community figures.
H.E. opened the meeting with remarks addressing matters of interest to Muslim communities, commending the Belgian Muslim community’s contribution to promoting coexistence and social cohesion, particularly mutual respect.
H.E. emphasized the recommendations of several MWL conferences, held with the participation of leading Muslim scholars, on the importance of seeking fatwas and religious guidance relevant to each country’s local context from its trusted scholars. They are best acquainted with their own social realities, which are taken into account under the principles of Islamic law stipulating that fatwas and rulings may vary according to time, place, and circumstances.
H.E. also noted that the MWL welcomes the participation of Belgian Muslim scholars in its conferences and forums, whether those dedicated to Islamic affairs or those bringing together followers of different religions, where discussions address issues of common interest to all participants, in line with the MWL’s areas of focus, mission, and objectives.
An open dialogue followed between H.E. and the attendees, covering a number of topics of concern to Muslim communities around the world.
