On behalf of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Mr. Abdulwahab bin Mohammed Al-Shehri, Assistant to the Secretary-General for Communication and International Cooperation, participated in the Annual High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). The meeting was attended by the High Representative for UNAOC, a number of foreign ministers and diplomats from countries of the Group of Friends, as well as representatives of international and religious organizations.

In his remarks, Mr. Al-Shehri outlined the MWL’s position on a number of issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the importance of moving dialogue from principles to action and impactful partnerships, highlighting the efforts of the MWL in education, interfaith dialogue, and promoting peace within societies.

Mr. Al-Shehri stressed the urgent need to protect civilians in Gaza and bring an immediate end to their suffering. He also stressed the need for the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
