 On behalf of the Secretary-General, and outlining the MWL’s position on a number of issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause:
Mr. Abdulwahab Al-Shehri, Assistant to the Secretary-General for Communication and International Cooperation, participated in the Annual High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), attended by the High Representative for UNAOC, a number of foreign ministers and diplomats from countries of the Group of Friends, as well as representatives of international and religious organizations.
In his remarks, Mr. Al-Shehri emphasized the importance of moving dialogue from principles to action and impactful partnerships, highlighting the efforts of the Muslim World League in education, interfaith dialogue, and promoting peace within societies.
Mr. Al-Shehri stressed the need to protect civilians in Gaza and ensure their rights, foremost among them their right to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
